Lima, junio 2023.- El BRITÁNICO, continuando con su cartelera teatral, presenta “Salomé”, obra dirigida por Jean Pierre Gamarra y que cuenta con un destacado elenco conformado por Amaranta Kun, Leonardo Torres Vilar, Mónica Sánchez, Fernando Luque, Alonso Cano, Óscar Yepez, Alejandro Tagle, Maria Fernanda Misajel y Martín Aliaga.
La obra de Wilde, basada en el relato bíblico de Salomé, llega al Teatro Británico en una adaptación controvertida y audaz en la que el poder, el deseo y la venganza develan el lado más oscuro del ser humano. En la visión del director, Jean Pierre Gamarra, esta versión pretende romper los tabúes más ocultos y poner en evidencia con el mayor virtuosismo y belleza, la perversidad, voluptuosidad y el desenfreno de una sociedad corrupta, violenta y decadente.
La temporada de «Salomé» va desde el 23 de junio hasta el 06 de agosto en el Teatro Británico, ubicado en Jr. Bellavista 527, Miraflores. Las funciones se llevarán a cabo de viernes a domingo y las entradas están disponibles en la taquilla del teatro y en línea, a través de la plataforma de Joinnus.

Existe una relación importante entre la época bíblica donde ocurre la decapitación de Juan Bautista, la Inglaterra victoriana de Oscar Wilde y las sociedades latinoamericanas de hoy en día. Son tres momentos tan lejanos pero caracterizados por la represión y la violencia.
Aún existen personas que son rechazadas por ser quienes son, aún hay mujeres que son quemadas públicamente. A pesar de haber pasado dos mil años, todavía somos una sociedad que necesita responder a una doctrina religiosa y, si miramos un poco más cerca a la época de Wilde, podemos ver que aún impera la doble moral.
Salomé no es más que un retrato de quienes somos, un retrato cruel y doloroso de una sociedad que vive en la impunidad. El ridículo mundo burgués que tanto defendemos y cuidamos, aquel que esconde los trapos sucios bajo la mesa, se verá expuesto.
Aquí todo sucede sobre una mesa: el deseo, el rechazo, el pecado, el odio, pero sobre todo el amor, aquel impulso tan misterioso que es capaz de exaltar nuestras pasiones más íntimas y llevarnos a lo más profundo de nuestra vulnerabilidad.
Sinópsis de la obra
Hija de Sodoma, pérfida, asesina y símbolo de libertad, Salomé ha fascinado a artistas e investigadores a lo largo de los siglos. Mencionada apenas en los Evangelios, se hizo famosa en la pintura y la literatura de la mano de grandes artistas. Este crudo y sensual texto teatral de Oscar Wilde causó la indignación y el furor de los más conservadores de su época; fue prohibida, censurada y condenada.
