La Academia Berendson celebró 60° aniversario de vida institucional al servicio de la salud y el deporte peruano.
La Academia Berendson cumplió seis décadas impulsando la natación y contribuyendo a la salud de la comunidad. La reconocida institución, que abrió sus puertas en 1962 en la ciudad de Trujillo, celebró un nuevo aniversario con un homenaje a sus fundadores, promotores y atletas que forman parte de su historia.
El club, reconocido actualmente por ser cantera de deportistas olímpicos, fue fundado hace 60 años por Walter Berendson, un empresario, deportista, periodista y regidor municipal; y sus hermanos. Inició sus actividades en un local ubicado en el jirón Zepita, en el Centro Histórico de Trujillo, para luego, en 1985 mudarse a su emblemático local del jirón Bolognesi.
Con el objetivo de seguir impulsando el deporte en todo el país, en 2007, la Academia Berendson inauguró una sede en Piura, convirtiéndose así en el único club de natación descentralizado.
Como parte de las celebraciones por sus bodas de diamante, Academia Berendson realizó el último viernes un emotivo evento en el que participaron atletas de diferentes generaciones para rendir homenaje a los fundadores de la institución. Además, bebés, niños, jóvenes, adultos, entre ellos seleccionados nacionales, nadadores laureados y atletas con discapacidad, demostraron cómo la natación ha influido de manera positiva en sus vidas.
Asimismo, durante la ceremonia, Rómulo Berendson Loyer, director de la institución, agradeció a la comunidad por formar parte de la historia del club y destacó sus más recientes logros. “Estamos muy agradecidos con Trujillo y Piura. Ha sido difícil, pero con el apoyo de la comunidad hemos alcanzado este logro. En los últimos 20 años hemos tenido siempre seleccionados peruanos, que nos han representado en torneos internacionales”, señaló.
Rómulo Berendson, indicó, además, que la institución ha renovado su compromiso para llevar la natación y otros deportes a cada vez más personas, con el objetivo de contribuir a la prevención de enfermedades y mejorar la calidad de vida.
